LampasGameplay Programming
Lampas is a 2d/3d Adventure Game which uses an Eye - Tracker to use the look of the player as a main mechanic of the game. In the gameplay videos the point where the player is looking at is represented by the blue bubble. Our goal was to integrate the eye tracker into the game in a way that it is not just a gimmick. Instead we wanted it to be a core feature of the game. To accomplish this we came up with the idea to have light as a major element in our game by making it the player's resources but also their health as well as the health of the enemies. The player can drain light from the environment and the enemies to fight them and to fill up the character's energy. This is done by simply looking at the object to drain. Through to this simple but essential mechanic we managed to integrate the eye tracker meaningfully in our game. In the project I took the role as the programmer. I worked closely with Philipp our Game Designer to implement the features he designed. I also helped him with the designing of this features whenever possible. We created the whole project in 3 months and with a team of 6 people. For this project we used Unreal Engine 4 together with WWise for the Sound.
